Canadian Boat to Gaza – Together we can end the siege of Gaza! Boat to Gaza fundraiser

An extraordinary evening! 450 tickets sold! 325 people present! And our target exceeded!

In late June, the Freedom Flotilla II will set sail, carrying humanitarian aid for the population living in the Gaza Strip. In addition to delivering medicines, school supplies and food, the Canadian Boat to Gaza will attempt to break the Israeli blockade imposed on Gaza for the past 4 years.

Engrenage Noir / LEVIER worked with the Canadian Boat to Gaza to bring art to the heart of our solidarity with the people of Gaza through the sculpture of a boat, the making of a collective banner, postal art and performances.

Concertation des luttes contre l’exploitation sexuelle (CLES)

In its actions as well as its associations, the Concertation des luttes contre l’exploitation sexuelle (CLES) gives a special place to art and creativity. Ending sexual exploitation is at the heart of the message of the CLES and the expression of this mission in an original and creative way is important to the CLES. This is why Marie, a survivor of the sex trade and staff member of the CLES presented the slam “J’ai pas choisi!” (I Didn’t Choose - see video), during the “Tribunal populaire” on commercial sexual exploitation created by the CLES from March 18th - 20th, 2001 at the Université du Québec à Montreal (UQAM).

Tamuke - Offerings for Japan presented by matralab / Hexagram Concordia Centre for Research-Creation in Media Arts and the Society for Arts and Technology [SAT]

In response to the ongoing triple catastrophe that has hit Japan - the magnitude 9.0 earthquake, the tsunami, and the Fukushima nuclear emergency - on April 1, 2011, at Montreal’s Society for Arts and Technology, a seven-hour artistic vigil will be held in solidarity with the people of Japan, and with their families and friends worldwide.

The event is open to the adult public; admission is free.

Conference-demonstration: ‘Entre théâtre et pauvreté’ Presented by Engrenage Noir / LEVIER and Le Festival International de Théâtre Anarchiste de Montréal 2011

A conference-demonstration of the Dojo Methode, or the Seven Laws of Presence, created by Pol Pelletier at the Dojo for  Actors, a training centre for stage artists in Montreal (1988-2001).

This internationally known method has been taught in numerous countries including France, Brasil, Denmark, and Mexico.

During this presentation, Pol will provide an exercise that enables one to understand the passage from a normal state to a state of awareness and the laws which govern this passage.

Pol will also demonstrate the ties between theatre and poverty: how to create a ”Poor Theatre” - following the concept as defined by Jerzy Grotowski - and how to offer theatre with a focus on poverty.
