POL PELLETIER -
Conference-demonstration: ‘Entre théâtre et pauvreté’ Presented by Engrenage Noir / LEVIER and Le Festival International de Théâtre Anarchiste de Montréal 2011

March 21st, 2011

A conference-demonstration of the Dojo Methode, or the Seven Laws of Presence, created by Pol Pelletier at the Dojo for  Actors, a training centre for stage artists in Montreal (1988-2001).

This internationally known method has been taught in numerous countries including France, Brasil, Denmark, and Mexico.

During this presentation, Pol will provide an exercise that enables one to understand the passage from a normal state to a state of awareness and the laws which govern this passage.

Pol will also demonstrate the ties between theatre and poverty: how to create a ”Poor Theatre” - following the concept as defined by Jerzy Grotowski - and how to offer theatre with a focus on poverty.

Tamuke - Offerings for Japan

March 21st, 2011

MatralabHexagram Concordia and the Sociéte des Arts Téchnologiques (SAT) will organize an artistic Vigil for Japan in response to the unfolding catastrophe triggered by the earthquake and tsuanami.

April 1, from 8pm to 3 am (a 7-hour vigil)

SAT, 1201, boul Saint-Laurent, Montreal

The vigil has three main intentions:

1) to show solidarity with the victims, the refugees, the many helpers and the anxious population of Japan

2) to provide a space for local artists and non-artists touched by these events to come to terms with the impact of what is happening

3) to mark the cusp of a new world situation: we believe that this catastrophe will have far-reaching consequences for contemporary thought and art, similar to the impact of the 1755 Lisbon earthquake and tsunami that changed thought and art forever
