LEVIER’S  associates

SOCIÉTÉ ELIZABETH FRY DU QUÉBEC

Since the summer of 2007, Engrenage Noir / LEVIER has partnered with the Société Elizabeth Fry du Québec on the project Agir par l’imAGinaIRe.

The Société Elizabeth Fry du Québec is a community organization founded in 1977.  Their mission is to help women who have problems with the criminal justice system and who, while determined to change, are unable to do so without help.

L’ABRA ou Rede Brasileira de Arteducadores (Brazilian network of art educators)

Created during the World Social Forum of 2005, this network targets personal and social transformation through dialogue and creativity.

The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, is the American largest community organization of low- and moderate-income families, working together for social justice and stronger communities.

ACTION CONTRE LA FAIM (ACTION AGAINST HUNGER)

This NGO, founded in 1979 by several French intellectuals, is dedicated exclusively to the problem of world hunger in its largest sense, and creates humanitarian missions in the world.

THE AUTONOMOUS SOCIAL CENTRE

Founded in 2003, DTES Community Arts Network brings together artists, residents, community agencies, and arts organizations to cultivate a vibrant and viable arts scene in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver.

THE FELLOWSHIP FOR RECONCILIATION (FOR)

Since 1915, The Fellowship of Reconciliation (FOR) has carried on programs and educational projects concerned with domestic and international peace and justice, nonviolent alternatives to conflict, and the rights of conscience. A Nonviolent, Interfaith, tax exempt organization, The FOR promotes nonviolence and has members from many religious and ethnic traditions. It is a part of the International Fellowship of Reconciliation (IFOR), which has affiliates in over 40 countries.

FORO DE LA CULTURA SOLIDARIA

This is a demonstration that has been held in Peru since 2004. The themes of the last demonstration were art, cultural diversity and social transformation.

LEVIER will participate at the next Quebec Social Forum held in Fall 2009 (Montreal).

FREE DIMENSIONAL

Free Dimensional is an international network that promotes social justice by hosting activists in artistic spaces and reinforcing their work with various cultural resources. These spaces can be found in approximately 40 countries.

GARDENS FOR HUMANITY

This organization bases in the US uses the garden as a metaphor for healing self and community through art.

IDEA 2010 (Associaçao Internacional de Drama Educaçao)

7th world congress that will be held in July 2010 in Belem with the theme of Theater Education of Today. The members of IDEA (Associaçao Internacional de Drama Educaçao) come from more than 90 countries and work in more than one hundred thousand different cultural communities.

INSPIRE ART

The mandate of Inspire Art is to  archive community arts in the Montreal region, to facilitate dialogue about community arts practices and to highlight the relationship between the local and  the transnational community arts movement.

LA GRAN MARCHA DE LOS MUNECONES

This Peruvian organization has worked in the poverty-stricken region of Comas since 1991. They have created a meeting place for all with the help of art (giant marionnettes, clowns, etc). They also organize the Comas street festival, Fiesta Internacional de Teatro en calles abiertas.

MAWA

WORLD SOCIAL FORUM

The World Social Forum is an open meeting place where social movements, networks, NGOs and other civil society organizations opposed to neo-liberalism and a world dominated by capital or by any form of imperialism come together to pursue their thinking, to debate ideas democratically, for formulate proposals, share their experiences freely and network for effective action. Since the first world encounter in 2001, it has taken the form of a permanent world process seeking and building alternatives to neo-liberal policies.

THE CANADA COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS

Artists and community collaboration is an arts process that actively involves the work of professional artists and non-arts community members in creative and collaborative relationships.

The Inclusion and Innovation Program targets the traditional disciplines of amateur artistic practice such as dramatic art, circul art, visual art, dance, art trades, music and the heritage of expression, as well as the disciplines currently emerging such as media art multidisciplinary projects.

THE FOUNDATION OF GREATER MONTREAL

The FGM will consider projects from a variety of sectors and fields. However special attention will be given to projects that touch on the following sectors: Physical health and mental health; Education; Social services; Arts and culture; and The environment and sustainable development.
